About SME Property Lawyer
Why choose SME Property Lawyer
SME Property Lawyer was established in 2014 to provide property law expertise to small and medium sized property developers, investors and business owners. Your transaction or conveyance will be handled by our principal, Andrew Kleiman (LL.B, LL.M), who has specialised in property law for over 18 years.
Our expertise
Andrew’s legal expertise spans residential, commercial, industrial and retail property. He has helped developers, investors, SMSF’s, home-owners, businesses, landlords and tenants on the buying, selling, leasing and/or development of almost every type of property there is including houses, apartments, offices, shops, supermarkets, warehouses, workshops, waste management facilities, medical facilities, building yards and car parks. If it’s property, Andrew can do it.
Andrew has held senior legal positions in private practice and in-house for corporations. He has been at various times:
- a director in the property department of commercial law firm Morgan Lewis;
- the senior legal counsel in Australia for international property title insurer Stewart Title; and
- in-house counsel for DADI Group, a privately-owned group of waste management companies where he focused on property, leasing and construction work relating to the group’s property and infrastructure portfolio.
Developers
Andrew acts for many property developers and his experience includes land subdivisions, townhouse developments, duplexes, apartments, mixed-use developments, business parks, industrial estates, shops, offices and hospitals. Andrew can advise on the legal documents for the entire pipeline of a development from optioning up development sites, advising on property finance, nominating and exercising options, settlements, building and construction contracts, access agreements, easement agreements, titling documents, off-plan sale contracts and partitioning agreements.
Commercial property investors
Investors looking to invest in commercial property (office, industrial and retail) benefit from Andrew’s practical understanding of commercial property and commercial leasing gained from a previous role in managing a $100M + commercial property portfolio.
Homeowners and residential investors
Andrew is as happy looking after a residential conveyance as he is a commercial matter. With Sydney house and unit prices so high, a residential conveyance is a high value transaction that deserves the close attention of an experienced property lawyer. Andrew isn’t someone who just pushes the paper. He can analyse the property title, negotiate a contract quickly and effectively, provide expert legal advice and help his clients reach settlement.
SMSFs and trusts
Andrew has acted on many purchases and property transfers for SMSFs and trusts and knows how to structure a purchase with the correct purchasing entity to avoid stamp duty problems. Whether it is a commercial or residential property investment or a transfer and lease-back of your business property, whether it is a limited recourse arrangement or fully funded, Andrew has the expertise to help you with your investment.
